GOOGLE READER

Using Google Reader makes following my blogs so much easier, it's a central hub for every post that's made. Allowing me or organise my followers into folders, I can easily seperate the blogs that I'm following as my 5 chosen ones, to those I'm following for personal reasons. 

Compared to tumblrs dashboard it makes interacting with your blogging audience simpler.

MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE

This mixed-media collage was used as one of my final pieces for the project on Doodles, starting as a strip from someone elses work I was asked to make it into a collage. Two drawings on the strip caught my eye and I decided to make these my main focus. With one being red and one blue I decided to keep the design simple and have it halved.

The word 'good' was scribbled across the sheet so I letter-blocked this in paint across the piece, I think the word fits nicely as the work is in two halves with stereotypically opposite colours for male and female; good and bad.

UNIT 34: Image Manipulation

Gears of War 3rd game cover concept

For my photomontage I have decided to to it based around Gears of War, with two games already out and a third up-coming I though this would be a perfect chance for me to create a concept cover for the trilogy.

Using various layering techniques, blends and blurs I was able to create, what I beleive, is a realistic looking game cover following the common theme of the game. The image was exported via Photoshop and layered into a mock-up Xbox 360 game case to achieve a realistic, life-like outcome.

UNIT 34: IMAGE MANIPULATION

Being given the freedom to create a photomontage on any subject of my choice, and having only one limitation that it should be something media based (CD, Game, DVD) left me spoilt for choice.

Indecisive over a tribute to the Halo series or a cover for the up and coming Gears of War 3, I decided to go with the game I had most fun playing.

PROGRESSION

Having already applied to university once I am familiar with the process of chosing, visiting and applying to them.

The five choices I made last year were;

Sheffield Hallam - Games Design (W280)
Sheffield Hallam - Animation (W615)
Leeds Metropolitan - Multimedia Technology (G450)
Leeds Metropolitan - Games Design (GW42)
Huddersfield - Computer Games Design (G4W6)

Having chosen all multi-media or game based courses it's clear that this is the route I want to take. When applying to university next year I will focus more on having a wider variety of universities to go to rather than two at the same univeristy.

My main choice (which I accepted as firm) was Multimedia Technology at Leeds Metropolitan. I applied for accomodation nearby and had the finance mostly sorted, unfortunately I didn't get enough points to get in.

In order to practise using the basic functions of Photoshop, I was asked to create a simple photomontage based around one of three themes/names, these being:
